Zhiwaling Heritage
Zhiwaling Heritage was the first five-star property in Bhutan to be wholly Bhutanese owned and operated. We are also the only property in Bhutan to be certified as one of the unique lodges by National geographic. From our exterior adorned with intricately carved woodwork and traditional stone work, to our interior embellished with hand-painted murals and traditionally hand carved Bhutanese motifs, our hotel pays homage to the ‘Dzongs’ or fortresses of Bhutan, showcasing the country’s rich and unique architectural heritage. Zhiwaling seamlessly blends our traditional roots with modern comforts. The hotel is equipped with Swedish technology underfloor heating and electric golf carts to whisk guests’ luggage to the rooms located in the eight cottages, named after each of the ‘Eight Lucky Signs’. Each sign or symbol represents a specific aspect of Buddhist teachings and is believed to bring blessings and good fortune to those who encounter them.
